If the ambient air temperature is below 4.4☌ (40☏) and a jammed condition is detected, the smart module will assume the shutters are frozen and will not illuminate the MIL or set a DTC. If this condition is detected when the ambient air temperature is greater than 4.4☌ (40☏) the MIL will illuminate and a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set. If the AGS smart module detects the grill shutters are jammed, it will attempt to free them by cycling the shutters from the open to close positions 3 times. If the ambient air temperature is below 4.4☌ (40☏) and a jammed condition is detected, the smart module will assume the shutters are frozen and will not illuminate the MIL or set a DTC." The shutters will cycle to the fully open position and then to the fully closed positions to initialize and learn the hard stops on the grill shutter frame for each key cycle. To perform the AGS validation, start the engine and observe the grill shutters. Do anyone no where I can find a good pic of where is the oil temp sensor for 2012 SRT 392 hemi super bee charger Thanks. ![]() The initialization can be used as a quick way to validate the operation of the AGS. 3461 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by acres544, Jump to Latest acres544 Discussion starter The Active Grill Shutters perform an initialization each time the vehicle is started. The coolant temperature sensor itself is often quite cheap, and you can often find them for around 40 for a quality one. A coolant temperature sensor costs 30 to 100, and the labor costs 20 to 150. "The Active Grill Shutter (AGS) system is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) over a dedicated network Local Interconnect Network (LIN) bus. The average coolant temperature sensor replacement cost is between 50 and 250, depending on the car model and labor costs. The whole cooling system works as a unit. In checking the codes it throws 4 codes all at once as follows: P04D0 - EGR Temperature Sensor 'C' Circuit Low. At around 400 miles of driving on this new truck, the engine light came on. I am having an issue if anyone could add some input. Code P0197 is set when the PCM detects a low engine oil temperature sensor signal. This truck is equipped with the 6.4L Hemi gas engine. The EOT sensor signal voltage goes down when the engine oil temperature goes up and vice versa. This means internal resistance of the sensor is inversely proportional to the oil temperature. I wouldn't try disabling them though as the ECM monitors them and will set codes/CEL for problems. EOT sensors are a type of negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor. I've always pondered if tow/haul mode either keeps the shutters open or leaves them open longer to compensate for the additional thermal load. ![]() While towing I also have tow/haul mode engaged. Genuine: Mopar Parts SKU: 05149077AB Other Names: Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, Temp Sensor, Oil Temp Sending Unit, Temp Switch, Oil Pressure Sending. Mine also seems to run cooler when towing and pulling hills.
